Dian Fossey’s legacy: Dian Fossey was a prominent American primatologist, who devoted her life to the study and conservation of the endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda. Her tireless efforts and determination to protect these gentle giants have left a lasting legacy in the world of wildlife conservation. AG Safaris is proud to offer  Rwanda Gorilla Safaris, which allow travelers to follow in Fossey’s footsteps and witness the incredible beauty of these magnificent creatures.

Dian Fossey began her journey to Rwanda in 1967, when she established the Karisoke Research Center in the Virunga Mountains. Fossey’s mission was to study the behavior and social structure of the mountain gorillas, which were facing extinction due to habitat loss, poaching, and civil unrest. She spent over 18 years living among the gorillas, developing close relationships with them and documenting their daily lives.

Fossey’s groundbreaking research and advocacy brought international attention to the plight of the mountain gorillas hence the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. She was a vocal critic of the poaching and deforestation that threatened their survival, and she worked tirelessly to raise awareness and funding for their conservation. Fossey’s efforts also helped to establish the first national park in Rwanda, which provided a protected habitat for the gorillas.

Unfortunately, Fossey’s dedication to the gorillas also made her a target of poachers and other threats. In 1985, she was brutally murdered at her research center, leaving behind a legacy of bravery and commitment to conservation. Fossey’s work inspired countless individuals and organizations to continue her mission, and her legacy lives on today through the work of conservationists and researchers around the world.

Today, travelers can witness the majesty of the mountain gorillas through Rwanda Gorilla Tours. These tours allow visitors to explore the same mountains and forests that Fossey called home, and to see the gorillas in their natural habitat. Visitors can also learn about Fossey’s legacy and the ongoing efforts to protect these magnificent animals from extinction.

Gorilla Trekking Rwanda is an unforgettable experience that offers a rare glimpse into the lives of these incredible creatures. Visitors can hike through the misty mountains, surrounded by lush vegetation and stunning views, as they search for the gorillas. When they finally encounter the gorillas, they are awed by their size, strength, and intelligence. The gorillas are known for their social behavior, and visitors may witness them playing, grooming, and interacting with one another.

Gorilla Tours and Gorilla Safaris offer a more comprehensive experience, allowing visitors to explore other areas of Rwanda and learn about the country’s history and culture. These tours often include visits to local villages, markets, and historical sites, as well as opportunities to meet with conservationists and researchers who are working to protect the gorillas.

AG Safaris is proud to offer Gorilla Trekking Rwanda  that honor the legacy of Dian Fossey and support the ongoing conservation efforts in Rwanda. Through these tours, visitors can witness the incredible beauty and importance of the mountain gorillas, and contribute to the preservation of this critically endangered species. We invite travelers to join us on this unforgettable journey, and to experience the magic of the mountain gorillas for themselves.
